Day 37: July 7, 2012

Last day in Munich/London today. After returning to London from Munich, we had Indian for dinner, which was by far the best meal we've had all trip.

Oh and look who we found in London: Prince William and Kate Middleton! Boom. Take that Mitchell.

After spending some time with the royal family, it was time to head back to the airport for our flight in the morning. We kept ourselves entertained by setting up a movie theater on the benches. In the morning, we'll be heading back to the US. Goodbye Europe!

Day 32: July 2, 2012

We started off today with a trip to Westminster Abbey, which was pretty cool. Here we saw a bunch of memorials and famous Englishmen laid to rest. The inside of the building looked incredible.

After visiting the Abbey, we took a brief stroll by Parliament and Big Ben to look at the buildings and take some pictures. Following our journey, we unsuccessfully attempted to find some fish and chips, and instead settled for a hamburger and a pint. Afterwards, we went on a Jack the Ripper walk, but they did not tell us who Jack the Ripper really was.

Today we walked over 7 miles around London. We should get a gold medal for that (I'm sure they'll have leftover ones from the Olympics). Pictured here: commemorating the 7 mile walk by passing through the Marble Arch.

Day 31: July 1, 2012

Today we went to visit the Tower of London: the ultimate battle station. The Union has nothing on the Tower - here there are brick walls, castles, animals (including polar bears), weapons, armor, torture rooms, and even an office to do my actual exam studying. Pictured here: the London Bridge from a tower wall decorated for the Olympics.

Here I am fortifying up my battle station for the impeding fight. I must defend the battle station against all enemies, so I need to protect myself as well. Hopefully this solid helmet weighing about 30 pounds (and zero pence) will do the trick.

I have my armor, but I really need a sword to go on the offensive against any enemies. Here is a giant one I stole from some old king.

After leaving the battle station, Megan found a tree in England and started carrying it around. It was a pretty cool tree, and I'm sure if Megan had a battle station the tree would serve some useful purpose in its use. However, this tree did get to go on an adventure through several parts of Soho.

Unfortunately, however, we will not be able to take the tree on the plane back to the US. So Megan kindly donated it to an unsuspecting British citizen. This guy looks surprisingly far too excited to be the recipient of a tree in the streets of London. We will never know what truly became of this poor tree.

Day 30: June 30, 2012

First full day in London baby! (Yes, I watched the Friends episode where they went to London on the flight in...) pictured here is the London bridge with a cool Olympics attachment to commemorate the upcoming games.

We started off our tour of London by imitating some of the local statues (in perfectly good taste of course).

The real statue is also holding a Gap bag of course. That's where the phrase "mind the gap" comes from.

All I am missing is the hat....but we can solve that problem (more to come...). After imitating some statues, we had some authentic fish and chips with some fantastic English beer, and then went on an open-air bus tour around the city.

I got my hat! All the real Londoners wear these (trust me), which is also why Joey got one in Friends. We met a lot more people and look both a lot cooler and a lot more British once I started wearing my hat (for reals).

Day 29: June 29, 2012

Left for London today! Went to bed at 11:40....woke up at 2:45....not the most conventional night's sleep. In fact we woke up earlier than we've gotten home most weekend nights in the past. But it was worth it, because we are London bound! (with a short detour in Canada.) Ps- people in Canada are super nice, it's like the Midwest times three. After a long flight and an even longer line in customs, we finally got to where we were staying. But unfortunately, our attempts to find a pub that was still open we're unsuccessful. Oh well, plenty of time tomorrow!
