Day 173: November 20, 2012

After the last class before Thanksgiving break, we took a trip to Kroger to do some Thanksgiving grocery shopping, and then made it over to Nick's to watch IU play the championship game of the Legends Classic Tournament against Georgetown. It's pretty quiet in town with all the students gone for the week, but it was still a solid crowd at Nick's, the best place to watch IU basketball. The game was great, Georgetown gave us a solid challenge and after a big second-half comeback took the game into overtime. Indiana responded with great resolve, going on a huge run to win by 10, led by Yogi's clutch three in solid coverage. We definitely needed a challenge from a great team to learn how to play in those tense situations, and the Hoosiers responded well. Being the #1 team in the country is a stressful life...it's going to be a long season with every team we play giving us their absolute best shot. So far we have been responding well, and although I don't expect us to win them all, I think we need to come through meeting our early-season challenges in order to establish a strong mental composure going into the middle of the season. Next big game up: UNC next Tuesday night at Assembly Hall!
