Another huge batch of photos of the day at once, so here goes for the whole week. This first photo demonstrates the disaster that was the NFL's referee lockout culminating on Monday night in Seattle when Golden Tate and M.D. Jennings were each awarded a touchdown and interception, respectfully, by separate officials. Unfortunately for Green Bay, and the NFL and its fans, the ridiculous official who actually thought this weak attempt at simultaneous possession was a touchdown won out on the debate. As a result, the NFL imploded, and even though Roger Goodell refused to own up to the league's mistake in this situation, the NFL coincidentally ended its lockout of the officials with all deliberate speed three and three days later the regular officials were back to officiate Thursday Night Football. It looks like NFL fans have finally learned not to take the skill involved in good officiating for granted. Every time someone complains about a call one of the regular officials makes again, just remember that dark age of the NFL world when we had three weeks of Division-III college officials making the calls.
Back in Bloomington, this week has been a rainy one indeed. It looks like we are making up for the drought we endured over the summer all at once, because I can't think of a day this week that it didn't rain during at least one point in the day. Although I will say it's also possible that moot court brief-writing has just caused my days to start blending together.
This was interesting to see this week. I don't know if they were fixing up a building or something, but Indiana Ave was blocked off all day Wednesday between Kirkwood and 7th for whatever this giant crane was up to.
The first Maurer Bar Review took place Thursday night at Nick's. It was great to see a huge turnout from all classes and spend a good evening with everyone, especially considering how crazy busy 2L year has been. It was great to have an official bar review set up, since I've heard about them at so many other law schools. Hopefully we have a great turnout every week!
Found another brain by the public library on my walk back from the courthouse. It was a rather abbreviated first day of POP volunteering since there was a bit of confusion and we ended up kicked out of our office by other attorneys and sent to our own courtroom (yes, courtroom, not office), which was a bit interesting. The courthouse in Monroe County is quite different than down in Lawrence County, I must say. Definitely looks more like a judicial center and less like a strip mall.
