Day 170: November 17, 2012

Today was a long day of cite-checking that included ordering Mother Bear's to the library, which brought back memories of the days spent writing those 1L memos back when we thought they were actually important. Which is funny, because now this year we can see the 1Ls doing the same thing, being oblivious of the days when they will be 2Ls and wishing all they had to work on was a 12-page ungraded pass/fail memo, and where the only world of cite-checking you could ever imagine was case names that are now copy-pastable through Westlaw Next. Because the library still closes early on Saturdays, I had to move on to the Union to continue working on journal. Unlike us law students, however, the undergrad students get the entire week off for Thanksgiving, making the Union significantly emptier than normal. Sitting in the Union (especially in the Harry Potter room) over Thanksgiving break trying to do work makes me feel like the actual Harry Potter in the Gryffindor common room when all the other witches and wizards went home for Christmas.
